Syracuse’s full 2017-18 slate was released on Thursday afternoon as the Atlantic Coast Conference rolled out its entire schedule. The ACC also dropped most of the times and TV assignments for each game. The entire schedule is available below this post.

Here are three takeaways from the Orange’s schedule release.

Happy New Year

Syracuse will start its Atlantic Coast Conference play at home on New Year’s Eve against Virginia Tech. The Orange dropped its matchup against the Hokies a year ago.

It’ll mark the fifth home game in a six-game span for the Orange. Then, after facing Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, Syracuse will have three straight matchups with teams who finished in the top five in the ACC last year, hosting Notre Dame and playing road games at both Virginia and Florida State. The early portion of SU’s conference schedule will certainly be a challenge.

Tobacco Road

Two of SU’s most highly-anticipated — and difficult — matchups will occur back to back. On Wednesday, Feb. 21, the Orange will host North Carolina in the Carrier Dome. The following Saturday, SU will be on the road at Duke.

The Orange beat the Blue Devils in each of the last two seasons. The results haven’t been as good against UNC, though, as SU hasn’t won against the Tar Heels since 2014.

Escaping the winter

The Orange will make three trips to Florida this year, each coming in a different month.

On Dec. 2, the Orange will travel to Miami to take on Kansas in the Hoophall Miami Invitational. Syracuse will return to Miami to take on the Hurricanes on Feb. 17. SU hasn’t played Kansas since 2008. The Orange beat Miami in the Carrier Dome in January last year before losing to the Hurricanes in the ACC tournament.

In the middle, the Orange will travel to Florida State on Jan. 13th for a matchup against Florida State. Then-No. 6 FSU lost to Syracuse in the Carrier Dome one year ago. These three trips to Florida will be the longest that Syracuse has on its schedule, and the team will get at least two full off-days before the next game each time.
