The NCAA released new recruiting rules pertaining to college football. There are different rules that will take effect at different points, but they will all change the current recruiting landscape.

Here’s a list of the major changes.

• Official visits moved up: Recruits will now be able to take official visits starting April 1, through the Sunday before the last Wednesday in June. Effective Aug 1, 2017.
• No more satellite camps: Syracuse started extending its brand using satellite camps last year. That will no longer be an option. Coaches will now be limited to participating in camps for 10 days in June and July, and the events must happen on a school’s campus. Effective immediately, but contracts signed before Jan 18, 2017 are honored.
• Another assistant: FBS schools will be allowed to hire a 10th assistant coach. Effective Jan. 9, 2018
• Early signing: Creates an early signing period in December. Effective Aug. 1, 2017

The NCAA also outlawed two-a-day contact practices. Teams will be allowed to have a three-hour contact practice session and then a walk-through. Helmets and pads can’t be worn during the walk-through and no contact is allowed. The walk-through also isn’t allowed to include conditioning drills
