ATM visit results in a burglary on South Crouse

Two men robbed a student shortly after he left a convenience store on the 700 block of South Crouse Avenue just before midnight Saturday, said Capt. Drew Buske of Public Safety.

The student had used the ATM in the store, Buske said. Upon exiting, he was approached by two men, one of whom claimed to be homeless and asked for money.

When the student gave a few dollars from his wallet, the men demanded all of his money, Buske said. One of the suspects claimed he had a weapon, and showed that his hand was in his pocket. The victim forfeited all his money.

The Syracuse Police Department later stopped two men downtown who matched the suspects’ descriptions, Buske said. After seeing the men, the victim said they weren’t his robbers.

The two suspects were last seen running west on East Adams Street, Buske said.
